Tavvolo Acceptable Use Policy
Community Guidelines and Prohibited Activities

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines prohibited activities and community standards for all users of the Tavvolo platform. This policy supplements and is incorporated into our Terms of Service. By using Tavvolo, you agree to comply with this AUP.
1. Core Community Principles
Tavvolo is built on trust, respect, and community. Our invite-only model creates a network of property owners and guests who share connections and mutual accountability. To maintain this trust, all users must:
- Treat all community members with respect and courtesy
- Provide honest, accurate, and complete information
- Honor commitments and agreements
- Communicate promptly and professionally
- Respect property, privacy, and community rules
- Use the platform for its intended purpose: facilitating trusted vacation rentals within communities
2. Prohibited Activities
2.1 Fraud and Misrepresentation
You may not:
- Provide false, misleading, or inaccurate information
- Impersonate another person or entity
- Create fake accounts or profiles
- List properties you don't own or have authority to rent
- Misrepresent property conditions, amenities, or features
- Use doctored or misleading photos
- Provide false verification documents
- Engage in any form of financial fraud or payment manipulation
2.2 Discrimination and Harassment
You may not:
- Discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, familial status, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, or any other protected characteristic
- Refuse bookings or access based on discriminatory reasons
- Harass, threaten, intimidate, or bully other users
- Engage in hate speech or discriminatory conduct
- Make unwelcome sexual advances or comments
- Retaliate against users who report violations or leave negative reviews
2.3 Illegal Activities
You may not use the Service for any illegal purpose, including:
- Facilitating illegal activities at properties
- Money laundering or financial crimes
- Drug trafficking or illegal substance use
- Prostitution or human trafficking
- Hosting illegal gatherings or activities
- Evading taxes or other legal obligations
- Violating local laws, regulations, or ordinances
2.4 Security and System Integrity
You may not:
- Access another user's account without permission
- Attempt to bypass security measures or authentication
- Introduce viruses, malware, or malicious code
- Scrape, harvest, or collect user data without authorization
- Use automated tools or bots to access the Service
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, servers, or networks
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code
- Probe, scan, or test system vulnerabilities
2.5 Spam and Unsolicited Communications
You may not:
- Send spam, junk mail, or unsolicited marketing messages
- Contact users for purposes unrelated to legitimate bookings
- Share contact information to circumvent the platform
- Solicit users to use competing services
- Send bulk or automated messages
2.6 Property Misuse
As a Guest, you may not:
- Exceed maximum occupancy limits
- Host unauthorized parties or events
- Disturb neighbors or violate community rules
- Damage property or remove items
- Smoke in non-smoking properties
- Bring unauthorized pets
- Use the property for commercial purposes without permission
- Sublet or allow others to stay without Host approval
2.7 Payment Manipulation
You may not:
- Request or provide payment outside the platform to avoid fees
- Use stolen or unauthorized payment methods
- Initiate fraudulent chargebacks or payment disputes
- Manipulate pricing or fees to deceive users
- Attempt to manipulate the subscription billing system
3. Content Standards
3.1 User-Generated Content
All content you submit (property listings, photos, reviews, messages, profile information) must:
- Be accurate, honest, and not misleading
- Be respectful and appropriate for all audiences
- Not infringe on intellectual property rights
- Not violate privacy rights or disclose personal information without consent
- Comply with applicable laws and regulations
3.2 Prohibited Content
You may not post, upload, or transmit content that is:
- Illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, or invasive of privacy
- Pornographic, sexually explicit, or otherwise inappropriate
- Hateful, discriminatory, or promotes violence
- False, misleading, or deceptive
- Contains malware, viruses, or harmful code
- Infringes on copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property
- Violates anyone's right to privacy or publicity
- Contains personal information of others without consent
3.3 Property Photos
Property photos must:
- Accurately represent the current state of the property
- Be your own photos or used with proper authorization
- Be high quality, well-lit, and clearly show spaces
- Not include people (except in common areas where unavoidable)
- Not contain watermarks or branding (except your own)
- Not be heavily edited or filtered to misrepresent conditions
3.4 Reviews and Ratings
Reviews must be:
- Based on actual personal experience with the property or user
- Honest, fair, and balanced
- Relevant to the rental experience
- Free of discriminatory or harassing content
- Not written in exchange for incentives
- Not fabricated or fraudulent
4. Community Safety
4.1 Property Safety Requirements
Hosts must ensure properties have:
- Working smoke detectors on every floor
- Carbon monoxide detectors if property has fuel-burning appliances
- Fire extinguisher(s) easily accessible
- Clear emergency exit routes
- Working locks on all doors and windows
- Safe electrical systems and outlets
- No significant structural or safety hazards
4.2 Reporting Safety Concerns
Users must immediately report any safety hazards, violations, or concerns to Tavvolo. This includes property safety issues, threatening behavior, illegal activities, or violations of community standards. Reports can be made through the platform or by emailing safety@tavvolo.com.
4.3 Emergency Situations
In true emergencies involving immediate danger, property damage, or medical issues, users should contact local emergency services (911 in the U.S.) first, then notify Tavvolo. Hosts should provide guests with emergency contact information and procedures.
5. Privacy and Surveillance
5.1 Surveillance Devices
If a property has security cameras or recording devices:
- Hosts MUST disclose their presence, location, and whether they record in the listing
- Cameras are ONLY permitted in exterior areas and common spaces
- Cameras are STRICTLY PROHIBITED in private spaces (bedrooms, bathrooms, changing areas)
- Hidden cameras are ABSOLUTELY PROHIBITED
- Hosts must comply with all applicable privacy and recording consent laws
5.2 Guest Privacy
Hosts must:
- Respect guest privacy during their stay
- Not enter the property during a stay without advance notice (except emergencies)
- Not monitor or record guests' private activities
- Secure and properly dispose of any guest information after checkout
6. Enforcement and Consequences
6.1 Violation Reporting
Users can report violations of this AUP through the platform or by emailing violations@tavvolo.com. All reports are reviewed, and reporter identities are kept confidential where possible.
6.2 Investigation Process
When we receive a report or identify a potential violation, we will investigate by reviewing relevant information, contacting involved parties, and requesting additional evidence as needed. During investigation, we may temporarily suspend accounts or hide content.
6.3 Enforcement Actions
Depending on the severity and frequency of violations, we may take actions including:
- Warning or educational notice
- Content removal or listing deactivation
- Feature restrictions (e.g., limiting messaging or booking)
- Temporary account suspension
- Permanent account termination
- Legal action or reporting to authorities (for illegal activities)
6.4 Repeat Violations
Repeat violations result in escalating consequences. Users with multiple violations are subject to permanent account termination. Severe violations (fraud, discrimination, illegal activity, safety violations) may result in immediate permanent termination without prior warnings.
6.5 Appeals
If you believe an enforcement action was taken in error, you may appeal by contacting appeals@tavvolo.com within 30 days. Include your account information, the action taken, and why you believe it was incorrect. We will review appeals and respond within a reasonable timeframe.
7. Legal Cooperation
We cooperate with law enforcement and may report illegal activities, including fraud, discrimination, threats, harassment, or other crimes. We may disclose user information when required by law or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, property, or safety.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Acceptable Use Policy at any time. Material changes will be communicated through email or the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
